Agadir:Following the initial meeting the American Language Center of  Agadir on November 30th to make a selection of students who will benefit from the opportunity to study English and participate in enrichment activities within Access Engaged Citizens serving the community.Selecting and training the trainers:During the meeting we conducted short interviews with volunteer students who were able to be involved in the operation. Six students- most of them are university students - were selected and were given some training on how to go about both preparing all the necessary conditions for selecting candidates to enroll in the program and be prepared to teach English to young learners and animate extra curricular activities .The following points were highlighted and discussed:

Decide on a practical objective procedure to go on making a selection of a group of students to enroll in the program

For this, it was decided to get in direct contact with  a number of parties, namely the Town Council ( Agadir Baladiya ) the two youth centers ( dar Al Hay ) Al Houda and Salam  and two junior High School Directors Ibn Al Haytam and Ibn Toumert .Several meetings were held with all these parties to explain our mission of serving around 40  underprivileged students teaching them English language and intiating them to American Culture through varied inter-cultural activites The two schools were provided with documents in both Arabic and French. These documents were written in simple language to make sure the candidates, their parents or guardians understand the objectives of the program as well the regulations to abide by.

Fes:The painting class took place in  AHLI Center on a Monday morning and after benefiting from the instruction and the advice of our colleague Cox Christopher and his amazing knowledge in painting, we ended up this workshop with a singing and dancing party. It is worth mentioning here that this session gave these kids a relaxing atmosphere and triggered wonderful creations on their parts as well as unbelievable interpretations.

Couscous party was organized and  provided to the AHLI children and stuff. We were able to do this thanks to the money that we were given by MEARN. We were happy to give them the comfort and pleasure of being together, especially that we did not only prepare lunch for them, but we also had them help us in cooking it. They were really happy to be with us; we felt the same thing, too -and perhaps more.

Last but not least, we provided the AHLI library with a set of English textbooks and workbooks that were meant to be used by these children, with our help.

Next step we are thinking about now is how to raise funds for the sake of these kids. We are planning to announce a “clothes donation” at the American Language Center( AHLI center is known by many poor and other street children, who usually come just to get a meal, a pair of jeans, shoes…etc.)
